Maria de Lourdes Barragan Alvarado

Expert on Human Rights, Gender and Climate Change at the Center for Social Planning and Studies- CEPLAES. Between 2009 and 2016, she was Focal Point of the Program “Rights, Climate Change and Forests”, developed jointly with Rainforest Foundation Norway (CEPLAESRFN). Prior to joining CEPLAES, she worked for more than 30 years on indigenous, socioenvironmental, and gender issues, at the local, national and Latin American levels. She has experience both in the public and non-governmental sectors. She is an Anthropologist from the Catholic University of Ecuador, with graduate studies on Social Sciences, with a focus on Amazon Issues at FLACSO.
