Shaila is working as Team Leader of Gender and Water Alliance Bangladesh. She is an environmental lawyer with a Masters of Law and have got significant experience in climate change advocacy. She has long experience working with print and electronic media especially writing article on gender and human rights issues. She is also involved with a tiny farmer’s research institute named “Krisoker Sor (Farmers’ Voice)” which supported her to build the insights and dedication to work for social and environmental justice with focus on right based approach. Shaila holds diverse professional background from social activism to women’s empowerment, asserting SRHR Rights, gender equality to environmental sustainability, disaster and climate justice areas triggering change to advance social norms of underprivileged. She is the UN Water Communications Focal Point in Bangladesh and a certified Gender Audit Facilitator by ILO.
Shaila closely worked with government and involved with number of policy development process like Disaster Management Act, Right to Information Act, Water Act, Gender and Equity Strategy for Health Ministry, Risk Reduction Action Plan for Climate Change and Disaster for the Ministry of Women Affairs in Bangladesh. She has got passion for planting and nurture trees and work for animal rights too.
