Winfred Lichuma is the Chairperson of The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC). Winfred is Lawyer of over 20 years standing. She holds an LLB from the University of Nairobi, an LLM from the University of Essex in United Kingdom and a MA in Gender and Development from the University of Nairobi.
Previously she has served as a Commissioner at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights and has been a legal adviser to the National Aids Control Council. She also has worked as a practicing Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She began her career as a Magistrate of the High Court of Kenya, a position she held for ten years and served around the country, growing up the ranks to Senior Resident Magistrate.
Winfred has wide experience in gender mainstreaming and in human rights promotion and programming.
This plenary of leading practitioners will build on Day 1 and look forward to the coming years to discuss what needs to happen in order to move us from words to real action for women and men around the world on climate change.
